Father’s Day Hamburger Treats!

These hamburgers are really cute and easy to make for your dad. This is a great present and my dad really liked them and got a kick out of it. The bun is a cupcake, the patty is a brownie, and of course some sugar cookie fries! I got this idea from theicingartist.com Don’t forget to watch my video for more clarification on the process. lets get baking!

INGREDIENTS FOR CUPCAKES (BUNS)

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2/3 granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 (12 tablespoons) butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cups milk

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Beat the egg and sugar till light and foamy. Pour in the melted butter and the vanilla.
  2. Add half the flour mixture. Then add the milk followed by the other half of the flour mixture. Fill the muffin tins and bake for 18-20 minutes. Cool and cut in half.

INGREDIENTS FOR PATTY (BROWNIES)

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a square baking dish.
  2. Mix the flour, salt, cocoa powder, in a small bowl and set aside. Melt the chocolate chips and butter in the microwave or on the stove. until smooth and glossy.
  3. Beat the egg got 1 min. until thick and pale. Add in the sugar and beat for an additional minute.Add in the melted chocolate.. Fold in extra chocolate chips.
  4. Pour batter into greased pan. Bake for 25-30 min. Let the top set. Cool and take a circle cookie cutter. Place in between cupcakes.

INGREDIENTS FOR FRIES ( SUGAR COOKIES)

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar, plus more for sprinkling

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 3 cup all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoons salt

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In the bowl of stand mixer, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, until evenly incorporated. Beat in vanilla. Add flour, baking powder and salt and mix on low until just combined.
  3. Divide dough into 2 balls and flatten into discs. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out dough into a large, thin rectangle. Using a pizza cutter (or sharp knife) cut dough crosswise into 3/4″-1″ thick strips. Cut the strips in half lengthwise and trim the edges to create straight sides. You  can make them different sizes and widths too. Sprinkle with sugar and transfer to baking sheets. Let chill in the refrigerator for about an hour.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the cookies are starting to turn golden around the edges. Let cool completely.

ASSEMBLING:

  1. With the cupcake cut in half, place the circular brownie in the middle.
  2. On the top half of the cupcake dab a little water and place sesame seeds on top.
  3. Make my buttercream frosting and fill a pipping bag with a number 4 tip. for the cheese. Dye the buttercream yellow. Pipe a square on top of the brownie, letting it hang over the edge.
  4. Cut a piping bag in a v shape but still leaving a little edge. Don’t cut all the way. This will make a   cool and easy ruffled lettuce look. You will want to dye your buttercream green. Pipe a border around the patty (brownie). Place the domed cupcake on top of all the icing.
  5. Now add anything else you want. You could have ketchup mustard? If you are planning to use ketchup or mustard I  would recommend using a number 12 tip. Just keep In mind that the ketchup, lettuce, cheese, etc.. should hang off the side so you can see it. Get creative and decorate to your liking. Enjoy!
