This is such a yummy and delicate looking dessert! Such a perfect one to whip up for the holidays. Recipe from crunchycreamysweet.com. let’s get baking!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup molasses
  • 2/3 cup boiling water
  • 1 large egg
  • powdered sugar for dusting

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Grease and flour a 9″ x 5″ loaf pan or line with parchment paper. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk dry ingredients: flour, soda, salt and spices.
  4. In another mixing bowl, combine butter, molasses and water. Whisk until butter is melted. Cool until not hot to the touch. Add egg and whisk until well combined.
  5. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk until the batter is smooth.
  6. Pour into prepared pan and bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes OR until the toothpick inserted in few places in the center of the cake comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and slice. Enjoy!
